LIVE Online Japanese tutoring in London ON
Konnichiwa! こんにちは
I have been offering Japanese language tutoring in London, Ontario, for many years. As a native Japanese speaker living here with my family, I enjoy helping students connect with the Japanese language and culture. My daughter, now in her twenties, is bilingual in English and Japanese, and she truly appreciates the many benefits of being bilingual.
I am a certified tutor, having completed the 420-hour Advanced Skills of Teaching Japanese Language Course. For many years, I also taught at the Japanese Saturday school in London, where I worked with children of Japanese background in subjects such as language, arithmetic, science, social studies, and Japanese culture.
Over the years, some of my Canadian students have gone on to work as English teachers in Japan, and one is now pursuing university studies there. In the past, I organized lunch gatherings in London to bring together Canadian and Japanese students. These events gave students the chance to make friends and gain a deeper understanding of both cultures. Although I haven’t been able to organize such gatherings recently, I’m happy that I still keep in touch with many of my former students.
Testimonial from my past student
I’ve been taking Japanese lessons with Takako-sensei for about a year, and it’s been an amazing experience. When I first started, I had no prior knowledge of Japanese, but with her guidance, I’ve had a lot of growth in my reading, listening, writing, and speaking abilities.
Her lessons are a great mix of grammar, reading, cultural insights, and plenty of conversation practice. She teaches both formal and casual speech, as well as natural phrases that help me sound more like a native speaker. As well, she gives lots of opportunities to shadow her speaking to help with pitch accent. Thanks to her, I can now read children’s books in Japanese, can have basic conversations with my Japanese partner, and can even follow along with Japanese podcasts on my commutes to work!
Takako-sensei makes learning really enjoyable. She’s patient, knowledgeable, and full of energy, and her sense of humor makes every lesson fun. She’s also very flexible, adjusting the lessons to focus on whatever I want to work on, which has helped me improve quickly.
I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn Japanese – she’s passionate, skilled, and genuinely fun to learn with. The only reason I’m stopping lessons is because I’m moving to Japan to continue my learning in an immersive environment, but I have a great foundation on which to build, thanks to everything I’ve learned from Takako-sensei.
ありがとうございました!あなたは素晴らしい!

Takako-sensei is a truly wonderful teacher who understands students. I started with a very low level of Japanese, and now I’m moving to Japan for a job—all thanks to the incredible lessons she provided. Our weekly sessions were perfectly tailored, blending practical conversations and vocabulary with solid grammar lessons and quizzes to prepare for JLPT.
Takako-sensei’s guidance went far beyond language. She also taught me so much about Japanese culture, etiquette, and customs, which has been invaluable as I prepare for my move. My time learning with her has been unforgettable and full of cherished memories. I would absolutely choose Takako-sensei for my Japanese education again, and I can’t recommend Canada-Stay.com enough to anyone hoping to improve their Japanese.

I’ve had the privilege of taking Japanese lessons from Takako-sensei for the past three years. From the very beginning,Takako-sensei has been essential in the development of my Japanese language skills. Over the course of three years I have worked my way up from being an absolute beginner to an upper intermediate level student. We worked through several useful textbooks which helped develop my understanding of grammar, sentence structure, verb conjugations, particle usage, the difference between everyday, casual, and formal Japanese, as well as all sorts of other essential info. After a year of lessons with Takako-sensei, I applied to take the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in Toronto and passed due to the preparation and instruction she provided me. Takako-sensei was also very helpful in teaching me about the regional differences of spoken Japanese, and provided examples of how it can differ from location to location. Additionally, she helped teach me some of the subtle differences between how the language is spoken by men and women, so that my Japanese would sound more natural. The only reason that I am ending my lessons after three years is that I am now a certified English teacher and I am moving to Japan to help others in their pursuit of the English language. I know that my time and preparation spent under her tutelage will enable me to thrive in my new home, just outside of Tokyo. If you are in need of a Japanese teacher, regardless of your level, I would highly recommend Takako-sensei.

From 2020-NOW:
I tutor Canadian students via Zoom, offering both one-on-one and group lessons. I prepare teaching materials using PowerPoint and Word, and convert the PowerPoint presentations into PDF documents so that students can print them out for each lesson. I discuss with my students to understand their individual needs and tailor the lessons accordingly.
I teach conversation, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar. I also discuss topics related to Japanese culture and current issues. I use textbooks such as Japanese for Busy People, Genki, and others. Additionally, I help students prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).
From 2005 September-2017:
I was tutoring Japanese several Canadians every Wednesday and Thursday at local library as one-on-one bases. I was using textbooks such as Japanese for busy people. I was also helping them to prepare Japanese Language Proficiency Test N5 N4 N3 N2.
