Receive【$1500】homestay fees, this Summer 2026! – From July 22 to August 15
Host a Japanese Student, and Enjoy a Cultural Exchange Experience!
We have been running this program in London, Ontario since 2014.
This summer, a group of 10 Japanese students will be coming to London Ontario with one adult chaperon.

※We are NOT looking for host family for adult chaperon.※
The student wants to spend a lot of time with your family to experience Canadian summer life and will not be attending school during their stay.
Host Family Application Guidelines
How Much Do You Receive as Compensation? / Homestay Fees
As a host family, you will welcome a Japanese student into your home as part of your family.
You will receive Homestay Fees, $1,500 for the four-week stay.

You do not need to buy personal items for the student, such as clothes.
The student will have a small allowance for personal purchases.
When? How Long Will Your Japanese Student Stay?
The Japanese student will stay with you for four weeks. Please note the following dates for 2026:
Program Schedule for 2026:
July 22 (Wednesday) – Arrival Day: The homestay group (9 students and 1 chaperone) depart Japan, arrive at Toronto Pearson airport, and then travel to London, Ontario, by chartered bus to stay overnight at Fanshawe College. The London coordinator will stay with the group.
July 23 (Thursday) – First Day at Homestay: The host family picks up the students from Fanshawe College. We will hold a small welcoming ceremony for the homestay program (usually takes up to 1 hour). Host families come to the pick-up point with children.
August (Sunday) – Mid-Term Gathering: The students and host families will participate in Aikido (Japanese martial arts) trial lessons and other fun activities. We encourage all host families and Japanese students to attend this event. This event is the only opportunity for the chaperone to meet and speak directly with the students and host families.
August 15 (Saturday)– Last Day at Homestay: The host family drops off the students at the Fanshawe College for their return trip. The students, chaperone, and coordinator will travel by chartered bus to a Toronto airport hotel and stay overnight.
August 16 (Sunday) – Departure Day: The students and chaperone will depart for Japan.
What should I do if a problem arises during the homestay?
During the homestay, the homestay coordinator and Japanese chaperone (adult supervisor) will provide support to both the host family and the Japanese student. Please contact us immediately if a problem arises.
Who Can Be a Host Family?
To qualify as a host family, you must meet ALL of the following requirements:
Japanese Student’s Age and Information
The student will be 13 to 17 years old.
We will try to match your child with a Japanese student of the same sex, similar age, and similar interests.
The age difference between the Japanese student and the host family’s main child should be no more than 3 years.
For host families with boys, we will match you with a male student.
For host families with girls, we will match you with a female student.
You will receive information about your Japanese student in May or June 2026.
Host Family Policies and Rules
Here are the important rules of the homestay program:

One Host Family = One Japanese Student
If you live with other Japanese-speaking students or have a family member who speaks Japanese at home, you are not qualified for this program. In such cases, your homestay arrangement will be canceled.
